Short description
The Alliance for Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Republic of Moldova was launched on 25 July 2022 aiming to promote the mitigation of gender inequalities in the area of entrepreneurship and on the labour market.
The Alliance is an apolitical and informal network of public associations. Currently, it is represented by 12 members: business associations, businesswomen’s associations and women’s civil society organisations throughout the country, including Transnistria Region and Autonomous-Territorial Unit Gagauzia.
All business associations, women’s associations, and civil society organisations that identify themselves as supporters of the Alliance’s mission and wish to contribute to the promotion of its priorities may submit an affiliation application.
The Alliance’s mission is to lower barriers to women’s development and economic empowerment. The Alliance is an apolitical and informal network of public associations.
To accomplish its mission, Alliance developed the Women’s Legislative Agenda, which describes the immediate advocacy priorities adopted and approved by its members. The Alliance may advocate for other priorities that fall under its mission upon members’ proposal and by the decision of the majority.
The Alliance was created with the support of Women and Girls Empowered (WAGE) consortium under the Reducing Barriers to Women’s Economic Empowerment in Moldova” project (WAGE Moldova) and funded by the U.S. Department of State Secretary's Office of Global Women’s Issues (S/GWI). WAGE Moldova is led by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) in partnership with the American Bar Association Role of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI).
The organization that wants to become a member of the Alliance should submit a written request. Additionally, the organization shall submit a short bio or the CV of the organization. All the documents must be submitted via email: [email protected] The Alliance will decide by majority vote on the accession of the new member. The organization will be notified of the decision by email.
